"Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed."
-Psalm 112: 1-2
As we approach Father’s Day, Northshore Christian Academy wants to take time to highlight all of the incredible fathers and father figures in our lives. Fathers play a uniquely powerful role in shaping hearts, minds, and character.
God’s Design for Fatherhood
Throughout the Bible, God reveals the beauty and responsibility of a father’s influence. Proverbs 20:7 tells us:
“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.”
Proverbs 20:7
Fathers who lead with integrity, faith, and compassion leave a lifelong legacy in the hearts of their children. Solomon advised parents in Proverbs 22:6 to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Fathers play a vital role in guiding their children along the path of truth. The biblical principles and truths they instill remain with their children throughout life, even after they have grown and left home.
The Bible also shows us that “fatherhood” is not limited only to biological dads. Mentors, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, pastors, and family friends often step into fatherly roles: guiding, supporting, and loving with Christ-like devotion. Joseph's unwavering faith led him to accept God's calling to be Jesus' earthly father. Setting aside his fears, he faithfully nurtured, protected, and provided for the Son entrusted to his care.
Joseph reminds us that parenthood reaches beyond biological ties, and that love, commitment, and faithfulness are at the heart of every loving family.
Celebrating All Father Figures
This Father’s Day, we want to honor every man who invests in the next generation. In classrooms, on playgrounds, at kitchen tables, and through quiet acts of daily faithfulness, father figures help children understand what strength, kindness, and godly leadership look like. Here are just a few examples to shout out:
- The dads who come home tired but still take time to listen—thank you.
- The grandfathers who share wisdom and stories—thank you.
- The uncles and big brothers who cheer from the sidelines—thank you.
- The mentors and teachers who speak life and encouragement—thank you.
- The spiritual fathers who nurture faith—thank you.
To all of these father figures and so many more, NCA knows that your presence matters!
Reflecting God’s Love Through Fatherhood
At the heart of Father’s Day is a deeper reminder of the ultimate Father we all share: God Himself. He models perfect love, patience, protection, and compassion. Even when earthly fathers fall short, our Heavenly Father’s love never fails.
“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.”
-Psalm 103:13
By looking to God’s example, every father and father figure can be encouraged to lead with grace, courage, and steadfast faith.
"For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice."
-Genesis 18:19
How Our Students Can Show Appreciation
We want to encourage our students to celebrate the father figures in their lives through simple, heartfelt gestures:
- Write a handwritten note or card for him
- Share a favorite memory of him that you have
- Pray over him
- Help with a household chore that he normally takes on
- Spend quality time together: family game night, special dinner
To all the dads and father figures in our school community: we honor you, we love you, and we thank God for you. May the Lord continue to strengthen you as you lead, love, and influence the next generation for Christ.
Happy Father’s Day!
