SIXTH GRADE

Sixth Grade Overview

Sixth grade is a turning point from elementary to secondary education. We skillfully prepare each student for success. Each is seen as an individual created by God for a great purpose. NCA provides opportunities to build on those strengths and hidden talents. We provide new opportunities within nurturing, supportive classrooms.

The Sixth-grade program intentionally builds the schedule, course content, events and small family-like community to nurture the healthy growth and development for this age group. Each day starts with Bible class to set the tempo for the day. Students receive instruction from a variety of master teachers who are passionate about their subject. Elective offerings include music, art, foreign language, PE, and study skills.

Our program focuses not only on the exemplary academics and the spiritual development of each student, but also their social and emotional development. Our program diligently works to support each of our students in their scholarly and personal endeavors as it helps shape and mold them into thriving members of our community.

SIXTH GRADE TEACHERS

Our teachers love sixth graders and are skilled in preparing them for a bright future.  Students experience incredible educators who have the high distinction of many years of experience, advanced education, and ACSI teaching certificates. Our teachers feel called by God to be exemplary educators.

Through collaborative teamwork, our teachers create an environment of dynamically different teaching styles and strategically consistent curriculum. This allows teachers to successfully impact students by supporting all different learning styles. Northshore’s teamwork approach in evaluating data, such as our standardized testing, helps our program continue to be at the forefront of producing students ready to lead the world.

Bible

Bible

At NCA we desire for young people to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We endeavor to develop that relationship by equipping students with knowledge and application of the Word of God. Going beyond factual knowledge of the Scriptures, we hope to see wisdom and understanding imparted into every student’s life with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Character development, prayer, Bible memory work, and practical lessons, enable students to grow in faith and equip them to make good decisions.

Heritage Studies

Heritage Studies

During the course of a year, students virtually tour the lands, peoples, and cultures of ancient civilizations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Students participate in simulation tools experiencing some of the early technologies that led to today’s inventions. They expand their Christian worldview as they compare ancient beliefs and religions with Christianity.

Language Arts

Language Arts

The middle school language arts program is designed to inspire life-long readers and for students to become confident communicators. Students work with a variety of written forms, developing their own voice and style. We endeavor to equip students with clear writing skills and the ability to express themselves in an articulate manner.
