God is writing a unique and special story for each student here at Northshore Christian Academy. We know that education is more than academics: it's about shaping hearts, nurturing purpose, and building a foundation of faith that guides students long after graduation. Today, I'm so excited to share with you a special Q & A interview I got to have with one of our very own alum, Miss Kimberly Beard, whose journey reflects the values we hold dear. Despite only being a senior at Kings High School, Kim currently holds 6 national hammer throw titles and is a 4-time Washington State Champion!
From her time walking our halls, to the path God has led her on since, Kim's story is a beautiful reminder of how Christian education can leave a lifelong impact. Dive into her Q&A and learn more about the lessons Kim carried forward, and the ways she continues to shine Christ’s light in the community and beyond. Her experiences, milestones, and continued walk with Christ offer both encouragement and inspiration to all of our current students, families, and entire school community.
Join me as we celebrate the ways God continues to work through Kim's life beyond our walls.
Background & School Experience
Q: Kim, share with our readers what years you attended Northshore, and what grade levels were you in?
A: "I attended Northshore Christian Academy from 2012 to 2022, starting in pre-K and continuing through 8th grade. "
Kimberly Beard, 3rd Grade, 2016
Q: What’s your favorite memory from your time here at NCA?
A: "One of my favorite memories from NCA was the 8th-grade trip to Washington, D.C. It was an incredible experience that allowed me to build new friendships, learn beyond the classroom, and gain new perspectives. I was also incredibly honored to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which was a powerful and humbling moment I will never forget."
Q: Were there any teachers or staff who had a big impact on you? If so, share with us how?
A: "There were many teachers and staff members who made a lasting impact on me. They consistently encouraged me not only to grow academically, but also to develop strong character and faith. One teacher who especially impacted me was Kelsey Fletcher. She continually reminded me that I am a child of God, deeply loved, and personally sought after by Him."
Q: What extracurricular activities or events did you enjoy most?
A: "I loved being involved in the Student Leadership Council as President in 8th grade, as well as participating in track, soccer, and drama. These activities helped me discover my strengths, build discipline, and learn how to work as part of a team."

Faith & Spiritual Growth
Q: How did attending a Christian school influence your faith journey?
A: "Attending a Christian school influenced my faith by surrounding me with a community that shared the same strong values. Faith was integrated into everyday life, which helped lay a foundation that continues to guide me through both successes and challenges."
Q: Was there a particular Bible verse, chapel message, or spiritual lesson that stuck with you?
A: "One lesson that stuck with me was learning to trust God’s plan, even when the path ahead isn’t clear. That mindset has been especially important in athletics, where progress often requires patience and perseverance. I love Proverbs 3:5!"
Q: How did you stay connected to your faith during your journey at NCA?
A: "I stayed connected to my faith through chapel services, Bible classes, prayer, and supportive relationships with teachers and classmates. These experiences helped me develop a faith that is personal and lasting."
Life After Middle School
Q: Where did life take you after graduating from middle school?
A: "After graduating from NCA, I attended King’s High School, where I continued to grow academically, spiritually, and athletically."
Q: Did the values you learned at NCA shape your decisions in high school or college?
A: "Absolutely! The values I learned at NCA shaped how I approached training, competition, and leadership. At King’s High School, those values carried over into the classroom, helping me push through difficult courses, manage a demanding training schedule, and stay focused when obstacles felt overwhelming. Learning how to persevere academically strengthened my mental toughness as an athlete as well. All of that growth played a major role in my development as a student-athlete and helped prepare me to attend the University of Illinois on scholarship as I continue pursuing my Olympic dreams."
Q: What advice would you give current students about making the most of their time here?
A: "I would encourage students to take advantage of every opportunity, whether in academics, athletics, or leadership. Build strong relationships, work hard, and trust that the lessons you learn here will prepare you for more than you realize. I also encourage students to seek God each day and find joy in the journey. Joy in growth, joy in challenges, and joy in knowing that God has a purpose for every season of your life."
Personal Reflections
Q: If you could go back and tell your middle school self one thing, what would it be?
A: "I would remind myself that I don’t have to have everything figured out. Surrendering my worries to God and choosing joy in difficult moments would have saved me a lot of fear. God is faithful, even when the journey is hard!"
Q: What does being part of the NCA alumni community mean to you?
A: "Being part of the NCA alumni community means being connected to a place that helped shape who I am today. It represents strong foundations, lifelong support, and a community that celebrates growth and success."
Q: How do you see God working in your life now?
A: "I see God working in my life by opening doors, providing opportunities, and giving me strength through challenges. I have countless stories of God’s faithfulness in my life. Moments where He showed up in ways I couldn’t have planned on my own. As I prepare to attend the University of Illinois and pursue my dream of competing at the Olympic level, I’m deeply grateful for the faith foundation that began at NCA and continues to guide me every step of the way."

At NCA, we truly believe that every student’s journey is a story God continues to write long after graduation. I'm grateful for the time I got to spend with Kim and for the testimony she shared: one that highlights not only personal growth, but the lasting impact of a Christ‑centered education. Stories like hers remind us why our mission matters and how God uses this Academy and the community to shape leaders who serve with purpose wherever He calls them. We hope this alum testimony encouraged you as much as it inspired us. Stay tuned for more alumni spotlights as we continue celebrating the legacy of faith, learning, and service at NCA.
