Meet Our New 2025-2026 Upper Elementary Teachers

We’re so excited to welcome two wonderful new upper elementary educators to the Northshore Christian Academy family this year! Each brings a passion for teaching, a love for the Lord, and unique gifts that will bless our students and our community.

Let’s get to know them a little better!

Meet Michelle Brekhus

4th Grade Teacher

MichelleB - Michelle Brekhus-1

Favorite Bible Verse:

John 15:5: "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Fun Fact:

Few adventures compare to hiking through wooded trails—especially when the path leads to a hidden waterfall!

About Michelle:

I grew up in Oregon, but moved to Washington when I was 17 years old. I am excited to be joining Northshore Christian Academy as a 4th grade teacher this year! My teaching experience spans four countries: the U.S.A., the Dominican Republic, Kenya, and Ethiopia. A love for travel comes as no surprise!

Meet Laura Beasley

5th Grade Teacher

Favorite Bible Verse:

Hebrews 12:1-2: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. "

Fun Fact:

We love exploring the Northwest as a family! On weekends, we enjoy hopping on a ferry to Whidbey for a bike ride, spending time on Camano’s beaches with family, or cheering for our boys with friends as they play sports! Personally, I love to set up a camping chair with a good book or grab a coffee at Everett’s waterfront and walk the marina.

About Laura:

What a gift to officially join the NCA Family as a teacher! I have been praying for us school wide as we enter into another wonderful academic year, celebrating God‘s faithfulness! I’m originally from Camano Island and met my husband, Lane, working as a tour director in Alaska during our college summers.

While I attended Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia, I had the opportunity to practice teaching overseas, and as a result knew I wanted to pursue education in under-resourced areas. The Lord led us to Jackson, Mississippi, to begin our careers and family. It was an incredible time of personal growth and great joy joining in the work the Lord is doing in developing Christ-centered schools in vulnerable neighborhoods around the city of Jackson. While in Mississippi, I taught 6th grade, and worked in urban schools to assist in achieving accreditation and ASCI membership. Lane and I are thrilled to now be with you all at NCA, and can’t wait to celebrate all the Lord has done, and has yet to do, through the academy!
