NCA Annual Parent Survey: Strengthening Our School Through Your Feedback
Growing Together: Why Your Voice Matters at NCA
At Northshore Christian Academy, students are at the heart of everything we do. Each day, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, Christ‑centered environment where children grow as both academic learners and spiritual leaders. But we cannot do this alone—as the parents, your partnership, encouragement, and feedback play a vital role in shaping the NCA experience.
Each year, our Annual Parent Survey helps guide our decisions, priorities, and improvements. Thank you to every parent who participated last year. Please know that your responses are prayerfully considered, thoughtfully discussed, and used intentionally to strengthen our school community and to initiate progress on areas of opportunities for improvement.
What We Heard and How We Responded
Last year, a few key themes emerged in your feedback specifically regarding the below topics and here are some of the ways we have grown and made progress in each of these areas this school year:
Positive Peers & Culture of Respect:
-
Doubled the number of EA’s (Educator Assistants) for better coverage & support in less structured environments.
To read more about how a culture of respect is implemented within our school, check out our blog we released earlier this year, here: Building a Culture of Respect: Living Out Our Faith in Community
Concern for Others, Discipline, Conflict Resolution, Inclusion & Support:
-
Added another School Counselor and created a new position: Student Success Behavioralist.
School Communication & Advance Notice:
-
Changed the frequency & consolidated the email communication rhythms of the school; researched and rolled out our NCA School app for even better communication with parents.
Pickup / Dropoff & Campus Safety:
-
Completed the WA Flagger training requirements & implemented new sandwich board signage to better assist traffic flow during afternoon carpool.
Safe Campus:
-
Brought back Officer Tom; changed from Schoolgate Guardian to Raptor Technologies; raised funds for campus safety initiatives like classroom window film; had the Safety Officer Vehicle wrapped & added a lightbar to elevate the visibility of it on our campus.
-
Additionally, over the past 2.5 years, NCA has significantly enhanced campus safety measures. With improvements including:
-
Full‑time, armed security staff present from 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. daily
-
Upgraded security cameras and secure door locking systems across campus
-
New badge‑only access points for more controlled entry
-
Regular safety training for all staff Safety & Security Team that meets consistently to review campus events and national school trends
-
Routine campus drills, including fire, earthquake, medical lock‑downs, and intruder deterrence exercises
We remain committed to the physical, emotional, and spiritual safety of every child entrusted to us. To read more about our safety improvements, check out our blog we released earlier this year, here: Tom Talks: How is NCA improving safety on our campus?
-
Athletics & Extracurriculars:
-
Changed part-time Athletic Director to full-time Athletic Director so that we can expand programming to include upper elementary clinics & camps, partnership with SURF Soccer.
Academic Preparedness
At NCA, academic excellence is fueled by a team of educators who are continually growing in their calling. This year, we have recognized many teachers and staff pursuing:
- Advanced degrees
- Specialized certifications
- Professional development workshops
- Targeted training in curriculum, instruction, leadership, and student support
Because our staff continually develop their skills (spiritually, academically, and professionally) they are equipped to:
- Teach with greater creativity and confidence
- Understand and respond to the needs of students more fully
- Build classrooms that inspire curiosity and foster deep learning
- Lead students toward discovering their God‑given gifts and purpose
Education at NCA is more than information—it is transformation. To read more on this, check out our blog we released earlier this year, here: Personal Excellence in a Christ-centered Environment
