The Department of Education pulled out the red carpet for 362 schools from 46 states during a two-day event in Washington D.C. filled with special speakers, ceremonial, choirs, color guards and accolades. Northshore Christian Academy was one of 50 private schools recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School. Northshore received its award near the end of the ceremony along with fellow Washington schools, Davenport, Zillah, and Bellevue High.
Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos highlighted the fact that only one-half of one percent of the American schools receive this award each year. She recognized the efforts of teachers, staff, students, and parents that are necessary to achieve a high performing school.
The National Blue Ribbon application process started in September 2018. The long application took 2 ½ months to complete and required that we meet certain academic scores in math and reading (in every grade level) even to qualify for the application process. We submitted the application in December and it was selected to move forward by two agencies: CAPE and DOE. A final selection occurred this summer. We were notified in September.
We give all the praise and glory to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God is the foundation, the north star, the guiding light, and living water. Humble beginnings are what he is all about. Ministry is messy. Teaching is hard, hard work. Our staff answers the call of this hard work with the strength and hope of our living Savior.
