Sixth Grade Overview
“It is fun to learn new songs and to learn how to play the recorder.” Sam Hanson
At Northshore Christian Academy, we recognize the transition that students experience during the middle school years, and that sixth grade is a pivotal time in the lives of our students. Students are exploring, making sense of their world, and asking questions that they have never considered before.
It is our mission to teach the whole child spiritually, physically, academically, socially, and intellectually. To do this, sixth grade is part of the middle school model at NCA. Students begin their day in homeroom with the Bible.
At NCA we desire for young people to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We endeavor to develop that relationship by equipping students with knowledge and application of the Word of God. Going beyond factual knowledge of the Scriptures, we hope to see wisdom and understanding imparted into every student’s life with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Character development, prayer, Bible memory work, and practical lessons, enable students to grow in faith and equip them to make good decisions.
During the course of a year, students will tour the lands, peoples, and cultures of ancient civilizations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Students will participate in simulations in the classroom demonstrating some of the early technologies that have led to today’s inventions. They will expand their Christian worldview as they compare ancient beliefs and religions with Christianity.
The middle school language arts program is designed to inspire life-long readers and for students to become confident communicators. Students work with a variety of written forms, developing their own voice and style. We endeavor to equip students with clear writing skills and the ability to express themselves in an articulate manner.
