At Northshore Christian Academy (NCA), we strive to provide the best possible environment for children to grow. Preschool students learn and play in a warm, friendly environment with passionate teachers. Our Early Learning serves children ages 1-5 and provides specific curriculum for each of our toddler, preschool, and pre-K age-levels. Here are some reasons that make our private Christian preschool so special:
A Spiritual Center Christian Preschool
All learning and curriculum at NCA are taught through a Biblical worldview. The entire process of education is used to bring children closer into fellowship with God, develop a Christ-like mind, and develop their God-given personal and vocational potential.
Children are taught Biblical stories and concepts and memorize age-appropriate Bible verses. They practice applying the character qualities we teach in their daily activities, including opportunities for serving others.
Children also participate in chapel each week, singing and praising God.
Preschool Social and Emotional Development
In preschool, children develop social and emotional skills through everyday activities. We teach children to have and demonstrate concern for others, seek help to solve problems and be open to new experiences.
Children learn how to thrive around other children through imaginative and cooperative play in class. They also participate in community-oriented events like Community Helpers Week (missions), field trips, our school Christmas concert, and several class parties throughout the year.
Our teachers cultivate leadership by giving children daily opportunities to lead and contribute to the class using small "job responsibilities" as a line leader, calendar helper, special helper, or through other roles. We also provide opportunities for children to experience cultural diversity. Children learn words in Spanish and learn about the cultures and traditions of people throughout the U.S. and the world.
Preschool Academic Foundations For The Future
NCA preschool students build a strong foundation for academic learning as they explore language, numbers, and the world around them.
Preschool teachers use Alphabet Stories, songs, kinesthetic activities, and crafts to introduce letter and letter sounds recognition. We teach pre-math skills like patterning, sorting, and classification through hands-on manipulatives.
Our classrooms have monthly themes in social studies and science to help children explore the world around them through stories, crafts, songs, and hands-on experiments. Children explore the arts through a wide variety of self-directed and teacher-directed projects.
In addition to learning about core school subjects, preschool students develop fine motor skills through everyday activities that involve coloring, cutting, painting, writing, and more. Children enjoy exercise and learn to control their movement at recess and in teacher/child-directed games.
The Life Skills to Thrive
At NCA, our goal is to give children the skills they need to thrive in the world. We create daily opportunities to learn through a Christian worldview while building the foundational cognitive, emotional, and fine motor abilities that will help children succeed throughout their lives.
Our teachers use developmentally appropriate curriculum with an abundance of opportunities to play and receive individual attention. Contact us today to learn more about our preschool.
